Description:Looking westwards along Ruxley Road towards the Werrington Road/Dividy Lane junction. The photograph was taken from close to the corner of Clowes Road. Almost at the bottom are the chimneys of the calcining ovens of George Edwards Bucknall Flint Mill. Ruxley Road was originally known as High Street until the 1950s renaming. Apart from the flint mill, this was open country until the houses on then left were built around the 1900s. The semi-detached houses on the right were built in the 1920s and 30s. The Northwood area of Hanley is on the higher ground in the distance.
