Description:Birkett & Roberts Trent Vale Bakery at the junction of Newcastle Road and Clayton Lane. Since the photograph was taken the bakery has become part of Premier Foods and the "Mr Kipling" brand, launched in 1967. The Art Deco frontage remains much the same. Beyond the bakery buildings was Springfield Farm, by the 1960s, the site of a garage and later a supermarket.
