Description:This is the "old" Victoria Theatre on the corner of Hartshill Road and Victoria Street in Hartshill. The theatre moved to a purpose built site on Etruria Road, becoming the New Vic Theatre, in 1986. The old building had been a cinema and a nightclub before becoming a "theatre in the round" in 1962. Much of the theatre's repertoire was based on documentary drama linked to local coal, steel and pottery industries. The theatre is advertising two plays by John Mortimer: "The Dock Brief" and "I Spy".
After the theatre moved, the building became building society branch. The no waiting sign has been replaced by yellow lines and the Belisha beacon and pedestrian crossing, by traffic lights. Turning left is a Humber Hawk estate car.
