Description:The camera is looking north from the end of Vicarage Road, at the entrance to Hartshill Park and Nature Reserve. The houses in Basford are in the distance, in the foreground is the Diamond Clay Works. The petrol station in the centre is on Shelton New Road. Diamond Clay manufactured kiln furniture such as setters, glost boxes, (small saggars), cranks (kiln supports for tiles) and batts (clay shelves for kilns). The works is on the site of the old Hartshill Brick and Tile Works, which used the local Etruria Marl as it raw material. The remains of the marl holes can be seen beyond the factory roofs and in the foreground. These works have been demolished and the site is now housing.
