Description:Vale Park from Hamil Road terrace. The Railway Stand on the left, the Bycars Stand to the right. The corner between the two stands is infilled. This stand is the only portion of Vale Park that remains from when the ground was built in 1950. It is believed that the steelwork and roof of this structure were brought from the club's previous stadium in Hanley. Today it is the Family Stand. Behind is one of the four corner floodlight pylons erected in 1958. Port Vale is one of the widest pitches in English football. The ground is built on clay which has caused occasional problems of flooding and freezing.
