Description:A view almost due south from Ashwood towards the centre of Longton with the tower of St James The Less church in the centre of the photograph. Longton town centre lies to the right. Immediately to the left of the church are the kilns of the Enson Works. The ovens of Gladstone Pottery are in the cluster of kilns to the right of the church tower. The cluster of chimneys and kilns immediately beyond the rows of terraced houses are linked to the Grafton Pottery Works and the Tuscan Works.
