Description:A view of the Stafford Coal & Iron Company dock on the Trent & Mersey Canal at Sideway. Some of the colliery winding gear is in the background and the main railway line runs from left to right across the middle of the photograph. The colliery site is now the Britannia/Bet 365 Stadium and part of Trentham Business Park although the two houses on the left are still standing. Just off the photograph to the left is Sideway Bridge over than canal. Two British Waterways narrow boats are loading coal from Stafford Colliery for the salt mines in Cheshire, probably Middlewich. The loading chute is just visible.
