Description:Coal fired beehive ovens with their chimneys at John Caddick & Sons Spoutfield Tilery at the corner of Brick Kiln Lane and Shelton New Road. Just below the iron bands around the oven can be seen the tops of the firemouths where the oven was charged (or batted) with coal. The vents in the crown of the oven are sealed. The site of the tilery has been redeveloped for housing. The names Brick kiln and Spoutfield have been preserved in road names.
