Description:A Plate from the Milton Service, circa 1867, painted with 'Swamp formed by Beaver with ancient beaverhouse & dam. One of six items from a dessert service commissioned by Lord Milton to commemorate his successful overland expedition through British territory in Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific 1862-63. The scenes on the ware are based on sketches of the expedition, depicting key events and celebrating the Canadian landscape. Made by Minton & Co, Stoke-on-Trent.
