Description:Three unknown gentlemen gather around the coveted Blue Ribband cup. This prize was much sought after by ocean liner captains and shipping companies. It was awarded for the fastest commercial sea crossing of the North Atlantic. The race began upon leaving New York, USA and landing in Southampton, England or vice versa.
The Royal Mail Ship 'Titanic', commanded by Potteries born Captain Smith went down in April 1912 whilst trying to win this award for the White Star Line. Pidduck jewellers, Hanley, engraved the cup.
