Description:Victoria Colliery pictured from the tracks of the Biddulph Valley branch line. The aerial cable cars can be seen taking spoil to the 'slag heap'.
The mine was owned by Robert Heath, who lived in nearby Greenway Bank Hall, which was demolished 1975. By the 1960’s the mine was operated by the National Coal Board.
The site was extensively open cast mined during late 1980’s and early 1990’s. The deep mine closed in 1982. Photographed by W.R. Shenton
