Description:This picture of the Winkle and Wood Colonial Pottery factory on Whieldon Road, Stoke-on-Trent, was taken just prior to its demolition in September 1999. At the bottom of the building you can see a small landing stage and bricked-up windows or doors which were used for loading canal barges with finsihed ceramic products. It is likely that many of the pieces from this factory were bound for Liverpool via the Trent & Mersey Canal.
