Description:Looking along Cyples Lane in Longton. At the bottom of the passage is Market Street, the Heathcote Arms Hotel is the building just visible. On the left edge, the classical looking building is the old Midland Bank on the corner of Market Street and Railway Passage. In the middle of the photograph is the rear of J Leeke's grocers shop on Market Street. To the left is the passageway into Noon's Court, a courtyard of poor quality 19th Century housing. The old gas street lamp still has the gas mantles and valves in place.
Cyples Lane took its name from the Cyples family whom operated a pottery on Market Street.
This part of Longton is now part of the Longton Exchange shopping centre. The line of Cyples Lane is approximately the pedestrian way in from Market Street.
