Description:These are the main gates to Bucknall Hospital off Eaves Lane. The hospital stared life as an isolation hospital specifically for smallpox and was originally known as Hanley, Stoke and Fenton Joint Infectious Diseases Hospital. It opened in 1885/86 and with the decline of small pox, became a general isolation hospital. Closed in 2012 and largely demolished, the site is being used for mixed housing. This gatehouse and some of the ward buildings still stand.
