Description:The camera was looking towards the west from Hanover Street in Hanley. In the murk on the left are the two winding towers of Wolstanton Colliery with the spire of St Margaret's Church, Wolstanton on the skyline. The spoil tip in the middle distance belongs to Shelton Collieries.
The camera is looking along the line of the A50 Potteries Way. The square building on the left hand edge still stands but the prefab and terraced houses and the top half of Hanover Street have been demolished in the building of the road. The large building towards the right hand edge is the old Little Sisters of the Poor convent at Cobridge crossroads. This building has been demolished and replaced with a nursing home (St Augustine's). The pre fab houses were built just after 1945 in an attempt to relieve a housing shortage.
