Description:The camera is looking across Fountain Square towards Tontine square with Tontine Street in the distance. The area is now pedestrianized, so has lost the roundabout, traffic and array of road signs. The Lloyds Bank building still dominates the square. Opposite, the white building was Richard Thacker, a furniture and hardware store that extended round into Tontine Street. This building has since become a mix of estate agents and convenience food shops. On the right hand side, J M Edwards, tobacconists and, next door, The Crockery Store.
On Tontine Square is the then new block of Tontine House, ground floor shops with offices above.
