Description:This brush manufactory was on the corner of Cape Street (formerly known as Gordon Street) and Trafalgar Street in Hanley. The building, no longer a factory, and the adjoining house still stands. Known as the Crown Works, the factory ceased production in the early 1960s having started around 1910. Prior to this, the building was used by J Johnson's, a wholesale flour and provisions merchant. This part of Cape Street was built between 1880 and 1900.
