Description:The building dates back to the 1920s when the Jewish community bought a private boys' school and an adjoining stone mason's yard in Birch Terrace as the site for their first synagogue in Hanley. In 2004 the site was sold with the community moving to a new synagogue in the Hebrew Cemetery in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The original windows from this building were reused in Newcastle. Either side of the entrance are plaques commemorating the 1920's building.
