Description:The camera is looking northeast over the houses in the Villas development from the higher ground on Hunter's Way. Faintly in the centre are the four floodlight pylons of the old Stoke City Victoria ground. Beyond are three colliery spoil tips in the distance: Berryhill to the left, Fenton collieries to the right and Parkhall in the centre.
Going downhill from the left are numbers 11,10 and 9 The Villas with number 13 The Villas on the right hand edge. Built in the 1850s and promoted by "The Stokeville Building Society", these Italianate houses were built and occupied mainly by pottery manufacturers, professional mean and Stoke shopkeepers. W H Goss (pottery manufacturer) lived at number 10 in the 1860s whilst another manufacturer, W Kirkham, lived at number 9 from the 1880s.
