Date:September 1963

Description:Ashfield Cottage in Penkhull was the onetime home of W H Goss who operated the Falcon Works. The photograph was taken from Penkhull New Road and also shows the hollow of Goss's old clay pit and a later shraff tip in the foreground. The Falcon Pottery (now largely the site of the Portmeirion works) is just off the photograph to the right. The houses behind Ashfield are on Boon Avenue. The outhouses or stables below the cottage were the site of Goss's colour experiments.
