Description:The photograph shows the front of the Hartshill Orthopaedic Hospital on Hartshill Road. Opened in 1931, the buildings were demolished in 1997. The railings in the foreground were designed by Gordon Forsyth at the Burslem School of Art and still stand. The wall and railings are grade II listed. Those in the photograph have the letters HH with the inscription "Rosemary Ednam Memorial" around the edge. Rosemary Ednam was instrumental in raising money for the original hospital in the 1920s. Other panels have children dancing and playing. The metal railings avoided being scrapped in the Second World War because of their artistic merit.
Today the site is housing, built around Rosemary Ednam Close.
