Date:November 1963

Description:This is the Globe Pottery operated by Ridgway Potteries Ltd, part of the Lawley group of companies. It was on the west side of Waterloo Road, just north of the Cobridge Road and Waterloo Road junction. In the photograph, the advertising hoardings beyond the factory are around the old greyhound racing track, which had for a time been the home of Port Vale FC and later an athletics track. The track was cleared in the 1980s. To the left of the pottery is the edge of the Burslem Co-operative Society's shop, with its separate Butchery department.

After the photograph was taken, Ridgway's became part of The North Staffordshire Pottery Company and the works concentrated on producing hotel ware. Late the works were demolished and became a car showroom.
