Description:The camera was looking north up the Fowlea Brook valley, over Westport Lake. The embankment running across the middle of the photograph carried the Tunstall or Pinnox branch railway line, which left the main line just north of Longport Station. The track has been lifted and the embankment widened.
On the far bank, on the left, is the sulphuric acid works of the Talke Chemical Company and to the right the chimney and engine house at Ravensdale. The small lake in the foreground is for overflow.
