Description:The photograph shows the narrow alleyway at the Market Place end of Brickhouse Street, which connects Queen Street with Market Place in Burslem. It runs alongside the Wedgwood Institute. The Bookmaker's and the hairdresser's shops in the centre of the photograph used to be The Wedgwood Arms public house. The street takes its name from the Brickhouse Pottery Works, at one time used by Josiah Wedgwood.
Parked on the kerb are a motor bike and motor scooter of the 1960s. The nearest is a Lambretta scooter, with extra lights and badges. Behind is probably a Velocette, at one time used as a Police vehicle (and known as "Noddy Bikes").
