Description:Looking north along Malpass Street (known as Hall Street until the 1950s) from The Boulevard (formerly Station Road) in Tunstall. This view has completely disappeared with the extension and widening of the A50/Scotia Road to the roundabout at the top of High Street. On the left the building with the cars parked alongside is the Ritz Cinema, opened 1934, with its main entrance on High Street. The cinema was on he site once occupied by the Soho pottery works. Where the cars are parked was once a row of terraced houses.
At the left edge of the photograph are the offices of The Sentinel (then The Evenng Sentinel). At the end of the street is the Swan Pottery on Hunt Street, with its tall chimney. This was operated until about 1972 by Lingard & Webster, specialising in teapot wares.
