Description:The photograph was taken from close to Christ Church (on the left), looking south towards the centre of the town. On the right, on the corner of King Street (now renamed Madison Street) is The Cheshire Cheese public house and next door , the High Street Post Office. Furlong Road is off to the left just beyond the church.
The view is much changed today with the chimney in the centre, which belonged to the Swan Pottery, demolished and the creation of the large roundabout at the junction of High Street and A50.
