Description:The camera is looking south east along Forster Street towards Tower Square and the photograph was taken from the Roundwell Street corner. The large building on the right is Forster Street School. The red brick building was originally a Wolstanton School Board school, erected in 1880 and was the Central County Infants and Junior School until reorganised in 1929. It is no longer a school.
The Forster Street area (Forster Street, Phoenix Street, Hose Street) dates from the 1880s when the Phoenix earthenware works were demolished and replaced with housing.
In the distance is Tower Square with the yellow brick clock tower erected in 1893. This was the site of the original Tunstall Town Hall. The clock tower is now a grade II listed building.
