Description:Looking north east along Birchenwood Road. The photograph was taken from close to the site of Goldenhill Station, which was just behind the camera, and Birchenwood Road was originally called Station Road. The station was on the Potteries Loop Line and the Scotia Valley Greenway now follows the route of the line from Goldenhill to Burslem. To the left of the photograph the line ran through Birchenwood Colliery and on to Kidsgrove. The houses and bungalows to the left of the road date were built in the 1920s and 1930s.
