Description:The camera is looking east from Norton Primary School over the valley of the Trent towards Baddeley Green. Hidden in the valley is the Caldon Canal , with Engine Locks Cottage is just to the left of the telegraph pole in the centre. The Biddulph Valley branch line runs across the middle of the photograph. Rising up the other side of the valley are the houses in Baddeley Green and Baddeley Edge.

The Biddulph Valley branch splits off from this line at Milton Junction about half a mile to the right of this view. The railway (hidden) in this image continues to Leek Brook Junction via Stockton Brook and Endon, where it connects with the Churnet Valley Line. With the cancellation of the Birmingham to Manchester section of HS2 in 2023 it has been mooted by the government that this line could be resurrected from Stoke-on-Trent to Leek.
