Description:The view west along the Caldon Canal with the Staffordshire Potteries Water Company's Stockton Brook pumping station on the right. A successful trial borehole was drilled in 1882 into the underlying Millstone Grit rocks and the pumping station was working by 1884. Two horizontal compound tandem "Davey" steam engines were installed to pump water to a storage reservoir in Goldenhill. These engines were replaced by electric pumps in 1936. Kidsgrove, parts of Tunstall and Goldenhill were supplied with water from the station.
The Seven Trent Water Company no longer use the station and the station has been sold. The just visible chimney has been demolished. The site awaits development (in 2017).
