Description:The main entrance to W T Copeland's Spode Works on Church Street in Stoke. The factory was established here in the 1770s, but closed in 2009. The building still stands and is owned by Stoke-on-Trent city Council.
Alongside the Copeland and Spode names are a pair of original gas lamps on the gate post. One factory chimney is visible over the gateway, but in the 1920s there were over 20 kilns and ovens on this site. There are plans to redevelop the site with artist's studios, offices, restaurants and accommodation.
