Description:Shorter & Sons Art Glaze Pottery was at the north end of Copeland Street, close to its junction with Liverpool Road. The Company started as Shorter & Boulton and initially produced Majolica wares. By the 1920s the company had become Shorter and Sons. In 1964 they were taken over by Crown Devon Pottery. The company had links with Clarice Cliff, and although she never worked at the pottery, later wares showed much Cliff influence. The lorry in the foreground belongs to F G Chambers & co, Timber Merchants, a company still associated with North Staffordshire.
