The name Kingsway dates from the 1913 visit of King George & Queen Mary. Prior to this date the area was Wolfe Street and Tower Street. The car park in the photograph was the site of Robinson & Leadbetter who produced Parian
Statuary (porcelain imitating marble). In the car park is a typical range of early 1960s motorcars including Morris/Austin 1100, Austin A40, Ford Anglia & Poplar, Vauxhall Victor, and Triumph Herald.
