Description:This is a view north along the alleyway between Birks Street and Campbell Road. Nicholls Street cuts across the alley at the far end and in the distance is a floodlight pylon on Stoke City's old ground, the Victoria Ground. Birks Street is a long row of terraced houses. The alleyway is cobbled and the small buildings in the yard would have originally been an outside toilet (or privy). Although predating the motorcar, it is just possible to get a car or small lorry down the alley. The chimney stack mounted X and H television aerials are typical of the 1960s low definition black & white television service.
