Description:This view is from Church Street at the corner with South Wolfe Street. The main entrance to the market is just off the picture on the left by the "Public Market" sign. These buildings, dating from 1900, act as a frontage to the open air market behind. There were several small shops either side of the entrance. The corner tobacconist & sweet shop has a wide range of cigarette adverts. The single storey brick and red sandstone building stands today, but the ornate two storey building to the right in South Wolfe Street has been demolished. Just behind the two storey building can be seen the dome of the clock tower which has been restored and stands in the open air market area.
