Description:Pearlware figure decorated with coloured glazes. Height 290mm St. George is the patron saint of England. His victory is said to have happened in Libya, where he saved a town from the daily sacrifice of a virgin to a dragon. St. George was adopted as England's patron saint by Edward III in the 14th century. This figure is impressed on the base 'Ra. Wood Burslem'.
