Description:Pearlware over-glaze painted figure, height 240mm. Britannia is the personification of Britain, shown as a woman with a shield, helmet and trident, accompanied by a lion. The figure is impressed on the reverse 'Britannia WOOD & CALDWELL'. Enoch Wood and James Caldwell were in partnership as pottery manufacturers in Burslem between about 1790 and 1818.
