Description:This text from The Orchidaceae of Mexico and Guatemala by James Bateman describes cattleya skinneri, also known as Mr. Skinner's Cattleya.
The book was published in the midst of an 'orchid mania,' when collectors would venture far and wide to find specimens. Appropriately, the plant takes it name from a Mr. Skinner, "who laboured almost incessantly to drag from their hiding places the forest treasures of Guatemala."
