Description:This photograph shows the Ian Allan Potteries Express train, hauled by a 2-6-0 steam engine No 42922, as it enters Leek station with a train full of railway enthusiasts on a special day trip excursion bound for Macclesfield. The train stopped here for a while, allowing passengers to disembark and watch operations as the engine took on water.
The rear coach had large viewing windows on the sides and rear, offering superb views of the countryside as it travelled along. The train is on the down line, and will soon be passing Rudyard Lake as it heads towards Macclesfield.
