Description:Alton station, Staffordshire, 1968.

During the Second World War army, navy and air force officers would have used this station during their training visit to Alton Towers.

Imagine this station in use today, serving the travel needs of thrill-seekers visiting the nearby Theme Park!

This image is included by kind permission of the Churnet Valley Railway, which operates a heritage line and visitor attraction between Leekbrook and Froghall, just a few miles from Alton.
