Description:Colour tinted print of a Wedgwood Portland Vase from the collection at Burslem Museum, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
An image of a Portland Vase is used elsewhere in the Blake collection as part of a slide show entitled "Staffordshire Pottery." The slide has a corresponding reader card that reads;
"Portland Vase. The original was made during the Roman republic and found in early 17th century in a tomb 2½ miles from Rome. It was of dark blue glass overlaid with nearly opaque white glass out of which the cameo figures in relief were cut. Wedgwood copied it while in the possession of the Duke of Portland making it in a slate coloured jasper."
