Description:The camera is looking eastwards over Stoke from the corner of Boon Avenue and Bath Street. Bath Street leads down to the old Stoke Library building on London Road. In the distance is the spoil tip and pit head gear of Fenton collieries, with Parkhall Colliery tip on the horizon. In nthe valley are the factories of Campbell tiles, Doulton and Crescent Potteries.
Between the two chimneys on the right hand side of the photograph is one of the flood light pylons of the old Stoke City FC Victoria Ground. Just to the left of the electricity pylon in the centre is a steel foundry and Stoke railway works and shed. The London Road end of Bath Street dates from the end of then 19th century, the top part, in the photograph, is much more recent. The houses at the top of the street on the right have been demolished, some were bricked up at the time of the photograph.
