Description:Ivory ware teapot by Wood's of Longport, Stoke-on-Trent.
Arthur Wood's Unicorn Pottery was at the bottom of Davenport Street (A5271) close to Trubshawe Cross and near to Arthur Woods Royal Bradwell Works just a few yards further up Davenport Street. The Unicorn Pottery was taken over by Arthur Wood & Sons in the late 1950s. It is all that remained of the very large Longport Pottery which occupied all of the southern end of Davenport Street. The Longport Pottery was operated by the Davenport family (who gave their name to the street) through to the end of the 19th century. Thomas Hughes & Sons operated the works until parts were taken over by Arthur Wood. All of the works have been demolished an replaced by warehousing and food processing.
