Description:The rear of Charles Amison's Stanley Pottery on Amison Street (formerly Wedgwood Street) in the Sandford Hill area of Longton. The works were close to the junction with Anchor Road. Closed in 1962, this photograph was taken a few months later, the works already looking forlorn.
In the 1960s Amison Street was barely 100 yards long. Since then it has been extended and runs all the way round to Forrister Street. The works have been demolished and replaced with housing. The potworks concentrated on souvenirs, tea sets and floral china
