Description:View north along Cocknage Road with Florence Colliery on the right. The photograph was taken from the Woodpark Lane (also known as Bog Lane) crossroads looking towards Dresden. Bert Bentley noted that Cocknage Road marked the City boundary with the fields to the left being in the County. These fields are part of Cocknage Farm.

The higher ground on the right is part of the extensive spoil tip of the colliery, now largely landscaped. Housing now covers the area of the Florence Colliery pit head buildings. The spoil tip in the distance belonged to Mossfields Colliery, the other side of Longton.
