Description:Photograph shows Lonsdale Street very near to the junction with Woodhouse Street looking towards Stoke St Peter's Church.
A typical street scene from the 1960s that has not changed too much in the 21st century. Stoke is one of the six towns that makes up the city of Stoke-on-Trent. Behind the church runs the River Trent; not much more that a brook at this point!
Although back to being the administrative center for the City, Stoke is really a quiet town. Hanley, now known as the City Centre, is the biggest of the six towns and lies about two miles away.
Note the little boy in the photograph. Obviously dressed by a hurried mother, his double breasted coat is fastened on the female side!
