Description:The photograph shows the east end of St John's Church on High Street, Goldenhill. St John The Evangelist was built in 1841 with the vicarage to the left of the photograph. A new parish was created around St John's in the 1840s. Designed by a local architect, Stanley from Shelton, the Byzantine Romanesque church, a grade II listed building, is now closed. The spire is almost at the highest point in The City, nearly 220 metres above sea level.
