Description:The Norton Green lift bridge (bridge No 21) carries the path leading to Cockshead Cottages over the Caldon Canal west of Baddeley Green. Just beyond the bridge was the start of the arm of the canal that served the iron foundry in Norton Green. This type of lift bridge is called also called a drawbridge or bascule. A counterweight on the arms helps raise the bridge. The maximum size of boat that can navigate the Caldon Canal is 7feet 6 inches (2.3 metres). In the background are the houses in Ball Green.
