Description:The Duke of Sutherland owned Trentham Lake, situated in Trentham Gardens. It was a popular recreation spot, and around this time an open-air swimming pool was being constructed on the far side of the lake.
Boats were available for hire and this Blake image shows a couple embarking on a leisurely trip around the lake. Photographed by William Blake
