Description:Children in the early part of the twentieth century were still prone to disabling diseases such as Polio and Rickets. This was mainly down to a poor diet, and many working class children found themselves in the orthopaedic hospital.
By today’s standards the room looks stark and austere, but this treatment did prove helpful to the children. It was not, however, a cure.
